About rattan
Rattan comes from a family of climbing palms that grow in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia, with most of the world’s supply coming from Indonesia. It’s often mistaken for bamboo, but unlike bamboo’s hollow stems, rattan is solid, so it’s light yet remarkably strong. When gently heated, it becomes flexible enough to bend and weave by hand, then holds its shape as it cools, a craft practiced for centuries. Rattan is also one of nature’s more sustainable materials: it grows quickly and can be harvested without cutting down trees, which helps keep forests standing. In a pendant light, the open weave works like a natural filter, softening the bulb’s glow and casting a gentle pattern of light and shadow across your walls and ceiling. Each shade is woven by hand, so subtle variations in tone and texture make every piece one of a kind. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft brush and keep it away from moisture.

How low can I hang it?
The modular suspension rods let you adjust the height, up to about 120 cm (47 in). That makes it easy to set over a dining table, in an entryway or in a living room with a high ceiling.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
We recommend one. The Willa is a ceiling-mounted pendant that connects to your home’s wiring through the 12 cm (4.7 in) ceiling canopy.
Can I dim it?
Yes. Use a dimmable E26 bulb with a compatible dimmer switch. A non-dimmable bulb won’t dim, even on a dimmer.
