About the Verona’s metal and cloth design
The lampshade was born out of necessity. When Thomas Edison’s electric light bulb arrived in 1879, its bare glow was far harsher than the candles and oil lamps people were used to, so fabric shades quickly became essential. They softened and warmed the light while bringing color and texture into the home. The Verona’s tapered shade follows one of the most classic shapes in lighting, the “empire” shade, named for the elegant French Empire style of the early 19th century. Its narrow top and wider base direct light gently downward onto a table while letting a soft glow pass through the cloth. Cloth is prized for this because its woven fibers diffuse light evenly, giving a calm, flattering glow with no harsh glare. Beneath it, a slender brushed metal stem and weighted base give the Verona its timeless silhouette and a solid, quality feel, and the brushed finish softens reflections into a warm, satin sheen. Inside, it pairs that classic look with modern convenience: a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 18 hours, USB-C charging and touch dimming, so you get the charm of a traditional table lamp without a single cord.
Why the Verona looks so beautiful in pairs
Some lamps are made to stand alone, but the Verona truly shines as a pair. Symmetry is one of the oldest principles in interior design. Matching lamps on either side of a bed, sofa or console instantly create balance, the classic, polished look you see in boutique hotels and designer homes. And because the Verona is cordless, a pair goes where corded lamps never could, with no outlets to hunt for and no cords trailing down the nightstand or across the floor. Place two on matching bedside tables for a calm, hotel-like bedroom where each side has its own soft reading light. Set them at either end of a sideboard or entryway console to frame a mirror or artwork, or use them as a pair down the center of a dining table for an intimate, restaurant-style glow at dinner. With touch dimming, both can be set to exactly the same soft brightness for a perfectly matched look, and at 15.4″ tall, the Verona is the ideal size for nightstands and consoles alike. Two Veronas don’t just light a room, they finish it.
