About travertine
Travertine is a natural limestone formed over thousands of years as mineral-rich water from hot springs slowly deposits layers of stone. Its signature pores and soft, warm tones come from this process, as gas bubbles and plant matter left tiny pockets behind as the stone formed. The Romans built with it on a grand scale, most famously the Colosseum, and the stone takes its name from Tibur, the ancient town near Rome (now Tivoli) where it has been quarried for over two thousand years. Italian designers brought travertine into modern interiors in the 1960s and ’70s, and it remains a favorite for its earthy, sculptural character. In a lamp, a travertine base adds natural weight and stability and a texture no two pieces share. Because it’s a natural, porous stone, it rewards gentle care: dust it with a soft, dry cloth and avoid acidic cleaners, which can etch the surface.

Do I need to buy a bulb?
No. The Sienna has a built-in LED that gives a soft, warm white (3000K) glow and is rated for about 50,000 hours, which is many years of everyday use. Because the LED is integrated, there’s no bulb to buy or replace.
Is the base real stone?
Yes, the conical base is cut from genuine raw travertine. As a natural stone, each base has its own color, texture and small natural pores, so every Sienna is one of a kind and will vary slightly from the photos.
How big is it, and where does it work best?
It stands 13.4" (34 cm) tall and 9.1" (23 cm) across, a compact size for a nightstand, desk, console or reading corner. The rounded glass dome and gold accents also make it a warm accent piece on a shelf or sideboard.
