About the Rhea’s sculpted texture and design
The Rhea draws on wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection, simplicity and natural texture. Its roots go back to the 16th-century tea ceremony, when the tea master Sen no Rikyū championed rough, handmade, irregular bowls over polished, flawless ones, believing that the marks of making and the passage of time gave objects their soul. Today, that idea shapes modern organic and Japandi interiors, which favor raw textures, earthy tones and forms that feel touched by hand. The Rhea captures that spirit in a sculpted resin bowl with a ribbed, stone-like surface, a texture that would be extremely heavy and costly to carve from real stone. Resin lets every ridge and groove be shaped in fine detail while keeping the fixture light, at about 3.3 lb, so it’s easier to mount securely on the wall. Its iron detailing, in a warm Gold or a deep Bronze finish, adds strength and a refined accent. The concave bowl also has a purpose: it shields the bulb and spreads its light across the wall, a technique lighting designers call wall washing, which creates a soft, even glow and brings out the play of light and shadow across the textured surface.

Why the Rhea looks so beautiful in a home
The Rhea brings texture and calm to a wall in a way few lights can. Its ribbed, stone-like bowl has a raw, handcrafted character that feels earthy and grounding, and when it’s lit, the light washes softly across the wall and catches every ridge of its surface, creating a quiet interplay of glow and shadow. Because the bulb is tucked inside the bowl, there’s no harsh glare, just a restrained, ambient light that’s perfect for winding down in a bedroom, softening a hallway or setting a relaxed mood in a living or dining room. Its organic form is a natural fit for wabi-sabi, Japandi, modern organic and minimalist interiors, and it pairs beautifully with limewash and plaster walls, linen, natural wood, stone, ceramics and warm, earthy tones. The Gold finish adds a gentle glimmer of warmth, while the Bronze finish feels deeper and more understated. Hung in pairs on either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway, two Rheas create a calm, balanced symmetry that makes a space feel thoughtfully designed, and a row of them along a hallway turns an everyday wall into a softly glowing, textured gallery.

What is the Rhea made of?
The Rhea is made from sculpted resin with a ribbed, stone-look texture, paired with iron detailing in a Gold or Bronze finish. Resin allows its fine ridges and organic, handcrafted surface to be shaped in rich detail while keeping the fixture lightweight at about 3.3 lb (1.5 kg), much lighter than carved stone, which makes it easier to mount securely on the wall.
What bulb does it use?
The Rhea uses one G4 bulb, a small bi-pin bulb that fits neatly inside the bowl. The bulb isn’t included, so you can choose the warmth you prefer; we recommend a warm white LED G4 bulb at 2700–3000K, which flatters the textured surface and gives a soft, inviting glow. Because the bulb sits inside the concave bowl, the light washes gently across the wall without harsh glare.
How big is it, and how is it installed?
The Rhea measures 10.63″ (27 cm) in diameter and projects 4.33″ (11 cm) from the wall, a beautiful size beside a bed, along a hallway, flanking a mirror or framing a doorway, and especially elegant in pairs. It’s hardwired and wall mounted, works with US 110–120V homes, and we recommend installation by a licensed electrician. It’s designed for indoor, dry spaces.
