What is the shade made of, and how does it look when lit?
The Primrose’s shade is translucent frosted glass molded with a delicate floral pattern. When it’s off, the pattern gives the shade a soft, textured look; when it’s on, the light passes through the raised and recessed areas of the pattern, creating a warm, diffused glow and a gentle play of light and shadow around the lamp. It’s a soft, ambient light rather than a bright task light, perfect for cozy evenings and bedside reading.
What bulb does it use, and how do I turn it on?
The Primrose uses a standard E26 bulb and works with LED or Edison-style bulbs. For the most beautiful glow through the patterned glass, we recommend a warm white LED around 2700K–3000K, which stays cool to the touch and brings out the warm, retro character of the lamp. It plugs into any standard US outlet with its 59″ (150 cm) cord, and you turn it on and off with the switch on the cord, so there’s no installation needed.
How big is it, and where does it look best?
The Primrose measures 7.9″ W × 16.9″ H (20 × 43 cm), a slim size that fits easily on a nightstand, desk, dresser, bookshelf or entryway console without taking up much space. It looks especially charming as a pair on either side of a bed. To care for it, unplug it and wipe the glass shade with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dust the gold metal and wood base with a soft, dry cloth. It’s designed for indoor, dry spaces.
