About the Oriane’s alabaster and layered design
Alabaster is a soft, naturally translucent stone that has been treasured for more than 5,000 years. The ancient Egyptians carved it into vessels and treasures found in Tutankhamun’s tomb, and long before glass was common, thin panes of alabaster filled the windows of Italian cathedrals, such as Orvieto Cathedral, with a soft, golden light. Its magic lies in how it handles light: unlit, it looks like a creamy, matte stone, but when light passes through it, the alabaster glows from within, revealing its natural veining, clouds and tonal variations. The Oriane builds on that beauty with a tiered, layered composition inspired by Art Deco, the design movement that defined the 1920s and 30s with its bold geometry and stepped forms, seen in landmarks like New York’s Chrysler Building. Each alabaster layer catches and softens the light differently, creating depth and a gentle gradient of glow, while the slim matte black metal frame gives the stone a crisp, modern outline. Because every panel is cut from natural stone, no two Orianes are ever exactly alike.

Should I choose the Compact or the Tall?
Both sizes share the same 10.2″ (26 cm) width and 6.3″ (16 cm) depth; only the height changes. The Compact is 7.9″ (20 cm) tall, a refined size for bedsides, hallways, stairways and smaller walls. The Tall is 13.0″ (33 cm) tall, giving more presence on larger walls, beside tall mirrors or framing a fireplace or console. As a guide, mount sconces about 60–66″ from the floor in hallways and living spaces, or roughly at shoulder height when seated in bed for bedside reading.
What bulb does it use?
The Oriane uses an E12 candelabra-base bulb, the small screw-in base common in sconces and chandeliers. For the most beautiful glow through the alabaster, we recommend a warm white LED bulb around 2700K–3000K, which brings out the stone’s creamy tones and natural veining while staying energy efficient and cool to the touch. It runs on AC 110–240V, so it’s fully compatible with US 110–120V homes.
Is it real alabaster, and how is it installed?
Yes, the Oriane is made with genuine solid alabaster. Because it’s a natural stone, every piece has its own veining, tone and translucency, so yours will closely resemble the photos but never be an exact copy, and that’s what makes each one unique. It’s a hardwired wall sconce that connects to a standard wall junction box and is controlled by your wall switch, so we recommend installation by a licensed electrician. It’s designed for indoor, dry spaces; to care for it, dust the alabaster with a soft, dry cloth only.
