Alabaster and brass, a classic column
The alabaster used in lighting began as mineral-rich water in ancient seas and lakes. As that water slowly evaporated over millions of years, it left behind layers of fine, translucent stone. Cut into a column, alabaster glows in every direction, wrapping the wall around it in a soft halo of light rather than a single beam. The Clémence pairs that glowing column with fluted brass, a detail borrowed from the grooved columns of classical Greek architecture, which gives the design a sense of timeless proportion. Brass and alabaster have long been natural partners: the warm metal echoes the stone’s creamy, golden undertones, and over time the brass may develop a gentle patina that deepens its character. Because each shade is cut from natural stone, its veining and translucency are one of a kind. To care for it, dust the stone and brass with a soft, dry cloth and avoid water and chemical cleaners.

What bulb does it use, and is one included?
The Clémence takes one standard E26/E27 bulb, up to 40W or an LED equivalent. The bulb isn’t included. A warm white LED (2700–3000K) brings out the creamy glow of the alabaster and runs cool, which is gentle on natural stone. It’s also dimmable with a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer.
Can I install it in a bathroom?
Yes, it’s suitable for damp locations, so it works beside a bathroom mirror or vanity as well as in bedrooms and hallways. It’s a hardwired fixture, so we recommend having a licensed electrician install it. Keep the alabaster clear of direct splashes, since natural stone is best kept dry.
How big is it, and how far does it stick out?
It’s 15″ (38 cm) tall and 4.7″ (12 cm) wide, and it projects 5.5″ (14 cm) from the wall. That slim profile suits narrow hallways, bedside walls and spaces on either side of a mirror. It looks especially elegant installed in pairs.
