About the Bijou’s faceted design and polished metal
Faceting is one of the oldest ways to make light sparkle. Gem cutters have used it for centuries, grinding flat, angled surfaces into stones so that light entering them bends and bounces between the facets before escaping as flashes of brilliance, which is exactly why a well-cut diamond seems to glitter from within. Lighting makers borrowed the same idea: by the 17th and 18th centuries, the grand chandeliers of European palaces were hung with cut, faceted drops that multiplied the glow of a few candles into a room full of sparkle. The Bijou, named for the French word for jewel, brings that effect to a compact, modern ceiling light. Its faceted diffuser catches the light of a single bulb, softening it into a gentle, low-glare glow while scattering subtle glints across the ceiling and walls. Around it, a polished metal finish adds a refined, reflective detail: polishing smooths metal until it reflects light like a mirror, giving the Gold finish a warm, jewelry-like gleam and the Black finish a sleek, modern depth. Inside, it uses a G9 bulb, a tiny bi-pin bulb whose compact size is what allows the Bijou to stay so small, and with an LED G9 it uses a fraction of the energy of a traditional bulb.

What bulb does the Bijou use, and can it be dimmed?
The Bijou uses one G9 bulb, up to 9W. The bulb isn’t included, so you can choose the warmth you prefer; we recommend a warm white LED G9 at 2700–3000K for a soft, inviting glow. The Bijou is not dimmable, so it’s best paired with a standard on/off wall switch.
How is the Bijou installed?
The Bijou is a surface-mounted ceiling light that’s hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box and controlled by your wall switch. It’s made for US 110–120V homes, and we recommend installation by a licensed electrician for safety. Its compact canopy mounts neatly and close to the ceiling, which makes it ideal for rooms with lower ceilings.
How big is it, and where does it look best?
The Bijou measures 4.3″ (11 cm) in diameter and 6.7″ (17 cm) tall, and lights an area of approximately 32–54 sq ft (3–5 m²). That makes it perfect for hallways, entryways, walk-in closets, laundry rooms, studies and small bedrooms. In a long hallway, several Bijous in a row create a beautiful, evenly lit path. It’s designed for indoor, dry spaces.
