About alabaster
Alabaster is a soft, fine-grained stone, gentle enough to be carved by hand, which is why artisans have shaped it into lamps, vessels and sculpture for thousands of years. In the Tuscan town of Volterra, craftsmen have worked it since Etruscan times, and their carved alabaster lamps became prized in fine homes across Europe. What makes alabaster special in a lamp is how it handles light: where the stone is carved thin, it glows with a warm translucence, and where it’s thicker, it holds a deeper, softer tone. Carved ribs or curves create gentle bands of light and shadow as a result. Every piece is cut from a single natural block, so the veining, color and glow of each lamp are entirely its own. Because alabaster is delicate, it rewards a little care: use a cool-running LED bulb, dust it with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it away from water and harsh cleaners.

How low can I hang it, and do I need an electrician?
The suspension cable adjusts up to 200 cm (78.7 in), so you can set the height for your ceiling, whether that’s over a kitchen island, a dining table or beside a bed. It’s a hardwired ceiling fixture, so we recommend installing it with a qualified electrician.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Almost, but not identical. The shade is made from natural alabaster, so the veining, tone and translucency differ from piece to piece. That makes each pendant one of a kind.
Does the light come with a bulb, and can I dim it?
The fixture uses one E27 bulb, which is not included. It is non-dimmable, so choose a standard bulb in the brightness and warmth you like.
