About the Amara’s solid-cut alabaster
Alabaster is a soft, naturally translucent stone that has been prized for more than 5,000 years. Ancient Egyptian artisans carved it into the vessels and treasures found in Tutankhamun’s tomb, and in medieval Italy thin panes of alabaster were set into cathedral windows, such as those of Orvieto Cathedral, to fill them with a warm, golden light. Its beauty comes alive with light: unlit, it looks like a creamy, matte stone, but when light passes through it, the alabaster glows from within and reveals its delicate veining, clouds and mineral patterns. The Amara is made from two solid-cut alabaster panels, each carved from a single piece of stone and gently curved so that they open like wings. Because the stone varies in thickness and density, every panel glows a little differently, creating soft gradients of light across its surface. A slim matte black metal frame and a stitched leather accent add a refined, tailored detail, and inside, a warm 3000K integrated LED gives an efficient, cool-running glow, with no bulbs to ever replace.

Should I choose the Small or the Large?
Both sizes share the same solid alabaster wings and matte black frame; the difference is scale. The Small measures 7.3″ W × 14.2″ H (18.5 × 36 cm), a refined size for bedsides, hallways and framing a mirror. The Large measures 9.1″ W × 20.5″ H (23 × 52 cm), a dramatic statement for entryways, larger walls, either side of a fireplace or above a console. As a guide, mount sconces about 60–66″ from the floor in hallways and living spaces; for a pair, choose the Small on narrower walls and the Large where you have more height to fill.
Is it real alabaster, and will mine look like the photos?
Yes, the Amara is made from two solid-cut panels of genuine natural alabaster. Because alabaster is a natural stone, every piece has its own unique veining, clouds, tone and translucency, so your Amara will closely resemble the photos but will never be an exact copy. Those variations aren’t flaws; they’re what make each piece one of a kind. To keep it beautiful, dust it with a soft, dry cloth only, since alabaster is soft and porous and shouldn’t be cleaned with water or sprays.
What bulb does it use, and how is it installed?
No bulb is needed. The Amara has a built-in, integrated LED in warm white 3000K, which brings out the creamy tones of the alabaster and stays cool to the touch. It isn’t dimmable and is designed to be controlled by a standard on/off wall switch. It’s a hardwired wall sconce that connects to a standard wall junction box, so we recommend installation by a licensed electrician, and because natural stone is heavier than glass, make sure it’s securely mounted. It runs on AC 110–240V, fully compatible with US 110–120V homes, and is designed for indoor, dry spaces.
